Stabilizing corn cobs or pen blanks is a process that involves putting the corn cob or pen blank in a very high pressure vat with Acrylic resin heated to a very high temperature for many hours which forces the item to absorb the resin which actually turns the item into a piece of Acrylic.

You actually wind up with a plastic corn cob.
